Monday 26th of January 2026

A joint event between SSAGO and Irish Rovers over the August bank holiday weekend, including a coast hike, Ulster Museum and Giant's Causeway!

We had a break from SSAGO's typical event rotation this summer, with a trip across the Irish sea for a joint event with the Irish Rovers!

SSAGO made its way across on planes, cars and a very long drive on a very functional minibus up to Cairnryan and a ferry across!

On the Saturday morning, we had our opening ceremony and got everyone sorted for their wide range of morning activities, from a monopoly run or to the Belfast City Hall. We also set off our all-day trips to Giants Causeway and a hike around Cave Hill! For the afternoon, people went to the Ulster Museum, Ice skating or a Hydro park!

After getting back to site at the evening, we got a campfire going and cooking tea, which was a chili! and chatted around the campfire until late at night!

On Sunday morning, we started off with a cooked breakfast, and set people off on sunday activities, including a coastal hike, craft activities and another full minibus going to Giants Causeway for the day!

After getting back to site in the evening, we had yet another campfire and had a lovely Tikka Masala for tea, and spent the final night chatting and singing into the early morning.

On the monday morning, we got the site packed up said goodbye to the Rovers, and started our journeys back home! 10 of us on the minibus had another lovely ferry and drive back down, dropping people off on the way back to Liverpool, with a lunch stop in Carlisle Station (Definitely wasn't becaue the minibus stopped driving, although it did over 1k miles over the weekend so we can't fault it too much...)

Thank you to the rest of the wonderful committee, and especially to Darragh from the Irish Rovers for getting this event off the ground! Hopefully the first of many of these events to come!
